Near and nearby

1) Near

- She lives near a supermarket, so it's very practical.

- Is there a good restaurant near here? (Tem algum restaurante bom perto daqui?)

- I don't like sitting near the window.

ATENÇÃO: evite este erro comum: "I live *near to my son." O certo é "I live near my son", sem o "to".

2) Nearby

- Is there a good restaurant nearby? (Tem algum restaurante bom por perto?)

- Her apartment is in a very strategic location. There are lots of stores, banks, and restaurants nearby.

- "We stopped at some nearby shops to buy some food."

- Try to choose an apartment that's nearer your work than the one you lived in before.

- Where's the nearest internet café?

- She was near tears when I found her. (Ela estava quase chorando quando a encontrei.)

- Her salary is near to nothing, so she needs to find a better job. (O salário dela é quase nada, então ela precisa achar um emprego melhor.)

hi Ricardo,
thanks for the comment.
About your question related to the number of visits...well, this has been building up for years. It's not something immediate. You'll see it happening to your own blog.
cheers,
